The Town of Greeneville Fire Department has 38 full time and 18 auxiliary firemen and are housed at four (4) fire stations strategically located within the Town limits.  Jim Bowman, a 30-year veteran of the fire department, was promoted to Chief in December 1994.  Duties and responsibilities of the fire department include emergency response to extinguish fires, maintain equipment, and test hydrants, pumps and hoses.  The department also provides arson investigation, public education programs, inspection of existing, new and renovated buildings, and an on-going training program to maintain fire-fighting skills.  The non-emergency phone number at Central Fire Hall is 423-638-4243.
